Sweden renews push for signal light at Sherry Lane - Sweden Supervisor Kevin Johnson and Highway Superintendent Brian Ingraham have met with the NYS DOT to begin the process for requesting a traffic light at the intersection of Sherry Lane and Route 31. Route 531 Project Tree Removal Begins April 5, 2017 - The project to reconstruct the intersection of Route 531 at Washington will begin in earnest on Wednesday, April 5. Tree removal in the right-of-way is the first step. Crews will begin on the south side of Route 31 in the Towns of Sweden and Ogden between Gallup and Hubbell Road and also on Washington Street. Foundation and Town secure grant for Sweden Town Park - In a partnership that continues to benefit recreational opportunities for Sweden residents and its neighbors, the Sweden Community Recreation Foundation and Town of Sweden have secured a $446,145 grant from the New York State Regional Economic Development Council. The grant will supply the majority of funding for a 2,600 square foot Lodge, new handicapped-accessible playground equipment and a sidewalk to the canal. Read more
