The April 8 Total Eclipse is nearly here and the Town of Sweden has prepared as well as possible for an influx of visitors. The Town has taken special care to heed the advice of law enforcement and emergency services agencies. Here are a few highlights for residents and visitors:
- The Community Center, 4927 Lake Road, is closed as is its parking lot for the day. All programs resume on Tuesday, April 9.
- The Town Hall, 18 State Street, and Highway Garage, 40 White Road, are open normal hours and for parking.
- The parking lot at the front of Sweden Town Park, 4761 Redman Road, is open until full (approximately 100 cars). The rest of the Town Park is closed to vehicles but open to pedestrians/bicyclists.
- Lakeview Cemetery is closed to vehicular traffic for the day.
- All roads are open. Parking is prohibited on odd-numbered sides of all subdivision streets and some other town-owned roads. Signs will help identify restricted areas.
