Request for Cooperation in Parking at the Park

Published June 4th, 2004 by Town Of Sweden

The safety of all visitors to the park is of the utmost importance. That is why parking along John Henion Parkway (the main road through the park) is strictly prohibited.

Children continually cross the road back and forth between fields. Cars parked alongside the road, instead of in a parking lot, make for a dangerous situation. In addition, the road needs to be wide open, not narrowed to a bottle-neck, in order to allow emergency vehicles to get to the rear of the park where soccer fields, the skate park and BMX track are located.

A parking lot has been constructed right inside the park entrance large enough to accommodate baseball families. Families are requested to make proper use of this parking facility.

There are no parking signs installed along the road, however these signs are being ignored. Fliers have been handed out alerting drivers to park in designated areas. These fliers have also been ignored. The next step is to have parking tickets issued. The Town Board would rather not take this step, but this safety concern must be addressed.

Please help make our Town Park as safe as possible. Park in accordance to the rules and have a terrific outing at your Sweden Town Park.
