The sustained cold weather has finally frozen the outdoor ice rink at Sweden Town Park, Redman Road. The 100’ by 300’ rink is open as weather permits and during daylight hours. The Park Staff keeps the ice cleared off and as smooth as possible. There is a shelter next to the rink for changing shoes and to get out of the wind. The ice rink opened during the winter of 2009 and was made possible in part through a NYS Parks and Recreation grant. The rink has been a very popular venue with families as an outdoor winter activity. The 152-acre Sweden Town Park makes an excellent site for cross-country skiing and snow shoeing, as well.
